It is now definitely known that llio Government do not intend to hasten the issue of the proposed four million loan. Goolet and Smith v. Secretary of Public Works, in which a verdict for plaintiffs for £87,716 compensation for land taken in Darling Harbor, was given in June last. A rule for a new trial was granted. A similar application was also made by the Hon, Jno, Lucas, but was refuged. The Australian Steam Navigation Company have decided to increase the wages of their workmen by twopence an hour. The Inter-Colonial Football Match between the Queensland and New Wales team takes place hereon Saturday next.
