At tho Supreme Court yesterday, Hetni Paroa was found guilty of rape on a child under ten years, named Irahapeta Pulia, and sentenced to 25 lashes and 6 months. To-day, Panaiwha was found guilty of forgery, sentence was deferred. Murtagli charged with larceny as a bailee was acquitted. Auckland, June 21. At the inquest on tho body of Henry Foreman, who shot himself, the jury in spite of medical evidence and the summing up of the Coroner, brought in a verdict of temporary insanity while deceased was suffering from a combined attack of measles and jealousy. Wanganui, June 21. A painful case ;came before the R.M. to-day. A boy named Connel 11 years of age was charged with breaking into the house of Mrs. Mullens who is away in Wellington, and stealing £lO. Accused was remanded for evidence. Hokitika, June 21. Very heavy rain fell on Monday night and Tuesday, flooding sll the lowlying parts of the town; there was a great fresh in;the rivef. Traffic was completely stopped up country, coaches to various places having to return to town. No serious danage, however, is reported. It was the most severe flood that has been experienced for several years. Wellington, June 21. Captain Williams has received the following telegram from Captain Gibbs at Kekcranga “ The steamer Westport Jhas sunk off Flaxbourne. The crow landed in boats, and are proceeding to Blenheim.” No further particulars are yet to hand. Cubistchubch, June 21. Cowlishaw had a very rowdy meeting again last night at Kingstown in St. Albans. Ono man wanted to fight the candidate, and others used very forcible language to him. The meeting terminated with three groaus for Cowlishaw.
