In tho Assembly last night a debate took place on the motion of Mr Patterson, calling attention to an address to the Irish people signed by certain members of tho House, which had been made public. Sir Bryan O’Loghannounced that Government did not intend to take any action in the matter, as tho signatures to tho address expressed their loyalty to the Queen, but upheld agitation for Homo Rulo for Ireland. Sir Bryan O’Loghlan also spoke in favor of the creation of an Irish Parliament. The debate then ceased. Sydney, May 31. At the sale of Campbell’s estate in George-street to-day seven shops realised a total of £95,200. New York, May 30. The leaders of American branches of the Irish Land League are making urgent appeals to the sympathy of the people for subscriptions to the funds of tho League, which have shown a heavy decrease since the Phoenix Park m urders. Cairo, May 30. Arabi Pasha made a speech to-day in which he openly boasted that the Sultan had decided to depose Tewick Pasha, and enthrone Prince Halim in his place. Tho panic among Europeans owing to the critical state of tho country is daily increasing, and there has already been a considerable exodus from this and other towns to Alexandria. London, May 30. The Cricket Match, Australians v. Cambridge University, was resumed at
Cambridge to-day. The weather was fine, and the attendance during the day enormous, the greatest interest being taken in the match. The Cambridge Eleven’s first innings closed for a total of 266. Palmer bowled splendidly for the Australians, taking six wickets for 65 runs. Tho Australians then went in for their second innings (137 was the total in their first innings), and when the stumps were drawn for the day they had put together 213 for the loss of six wickets. The following were the principal scorers Bannerman, caught, 24 ; Massie, caught, 20; Horan, bowled, 51; Giffen, not out, 55 ; and Palmer, not out, 26. May 31. The Cricket Match between the Australians and Cambridge University was finished to-day, and resulted in a victory for Cambridge by six wickets. Constantinople, May 30. It has transpired that Lord Dufferin and the Marquis do Noailles, the English and French Ambassadors, have addressed a joint note to the Porte, requesting that Arabi Pasha, 'lie leader of the Nationalist party in Egypt, ami his chief associates in agitation should forthwith be summoned by the Sultan to Constantinople. The Turkish ironclads stationed in the Bosphorus are now engaged in coaling. It is believed it is the intention of the Porto to despatch them at once to Alexandria.
