FASHIONABLE WEDDING.
A fashionable Wedding took place yesterday at the Turanganui Church over the river, when Henare Potae, the well known chief of Tokomaru, was married to Naomi Mahihera, daughter of Te Mawhera Te Rangitakaiwaho of Wairarapa. The officiating clergy were the Ven Archdeacon Williams, and Rev. Kerehona Piwaka. The bride was led up to the altar by Mr Jury, who acted as best man.
Prior to the marriage service being performed Mr Woon interpreted the marriage settlements, which were duly executed, and by which all property settled on the young lady was vested in trustees. The marriage feast was duly celebrated at Mr Jury’s house. Among the guests were many relations and friends of the bride, Hoani Manihera, her uncle ; the two sons of Te Manihera Te R.angi Takaiwaho, Hamuera Mahupuku, and many other noted persons from the Wairarapa. The bride and bridegroom receive our hearty wishes for their mutual happiness.
