[From our own Correspondents]. London, Dec. 5. The Parnellite who was a candidate for the seat for Londonderry in the House of Commons, rendered vacant by the appointment of the Right Hon. Hugh Law to the Lord Chancellorship of Ireland, has retired from the contest. In an address to the electors announcing his retirement he urges the supporters of Parnell’s cause to vote for Sir Samuel Wilson, the Conservative candidate. Aden, December 5. News have reached here cf the death of Capt. Charles G. Brownrigg and four of the crew of H.M.S. London, stationed at Zanzibar, while endeavouring to capture an Arab slaver. Capt. Brownrigg, in charge of the ship’s pinnace, fully manned, attacked the slaver off the African coast, near Zanzibar, the crew of which offered strong resistance. Desperate fighting ensued, resulting in the death of Captain Brownrigg ; four of the crew also being killed. Several others were wounded. The slaver succeeded in beating off the pinnace, and escaped.
