Dunedin, Dec. 7. With respect to the number of prosecutions re Sunday trading, the City Bench decided that the Licensing Act does not prohibit keeping open doors of hotels, or access to bar, or a person being there to serve travellers. Wanganui, Dec. 7. Mr Watt, candidate for Wanganui, addressed a meeting of electors last night. A vote of thanks and confidence was moved followed by an amendment of thanks only. Mr Bryce, who was present, was called on by a section of the audience, and come on the platform ; a great uproar ensued ; cheers and hisses, mingled with cries of “He is not an elector,” “ Ministerial influence,” “ Undue influence,” “ Turn-coat,” and a hearing refused. The Chairman ruled Mr Bryce not an elector, and consequently not entitled to speak, The amendment was carried.
