Messrs Buchanan, McSweeny, and McDougall, were nominated for Napier yesterday ; the show of hands was in favor of Buchanan. Buchanan addressed a crowded meeting last night, and received a vote of thanks. The following are the entries for the Petane Races :—

The remains of another victim in the late fire—a man named Richard Lieber—have been found in the ruins of Cawson’s hotel.

Major Atkinson addressed the electors last night. A rote of confidence was proposed, but the majority were against it.
