According to a New York paper a boy was sitting on a molasses cask singing “ O for a thousand tongues.” The Jewish Herald, of Melbourne, prints an abstract of a sermon, delivered at the Bourke-street Synagogue, by the Rev. S. A. Goldstein, now minister of the Hebrew congregation in Auckland. The Herald says:— “ Mr. Goldstein leaves for Auckland, where he is to AH the vacant post of minister to the Hebrew congregation. We heartily congratulate our Auckland brethren upon the acquisition of so able a minister, and trust that their connection with him will be lasting and fraught with much good work in the field of religion and charity.”
