CORRESPONDENCE.

Our columns are open for free discussion ; tut we do not hold ourselves responsitlefor the opinions of our Correspondents. :O: LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.

Sib, —Would you kindly publish this letter, for the information of intending purchasers of the scabby sheep in this district as we hear that the successful tenderer will have to commence operations ou or about the Ist of April, 1877 ; by that time these sheep will have about six months growth of wool on their backs, as the natives commenced to shear them in the latter end of September aud the beginning of October, so by the end of September next, they will hare twelve months ivool on their backs; also with reference to the lambs ; by the commencement of boiling down the sheep, the lambs will be nearly as big as the ewes and wethers, as a great many of them are, at this present lime, four months’ old aud by April next they will have a fair average quantity of wool on their backs. Considering they arc scabby sheep, also I don’t think there will be any trouble in delivering the sheep at the Awanui as I think the natives will only be too glad to get them away, as they have lost so many by being stolen, and killed by the dogs, as most of the native settlements are over-run with these animals. The natives consider their losses are owing to the delay of the Government in carryingout arrangements.—l am, &c., - Enquires. Waiapu, East Coast, Decembers, 1876.
