CENTRAL RAILWAY SURVEY.
The'.Taupo correspondent of the Herald telegraphed yesterday :Mr Rochfort, the engineer who is exploring the route for the main trunk line of railway from Wanganui to Waikato, and has successfully explored through the Wanganui country up to Waimarino Pehi Turn a settlement, situated on the confines of the Tnhna country, has arrived at Otnkon and Waihi, with letters to the chiefs To Heuhcn and Matuahn, from the Hon Mr Bryce, requesting their co-operation in ilia exploring of the Tuhna country. Mr Rochfort, after holding a large meeting at Waihi, left the following day accompanied by four men told off by the above chiefs to assist him and explain to their hnpn? in Tuhna the object of Mr Rochforl’s visit. The parly will have to pass through the district owned by the hapn who murdered Moffat.
