NARROW ESCAPE FROM DROWNING.

Yesterday, says the Taranaki Herald , two little girls, daughters of Mr RlcGonagle, were nearly drowned in the Mangotuku Diver, They were playing on (he banks of tbe river at the rear of Mr Paul’s stables, when the younger one fell into the water. The other girl, who is about seven years old, became alarmed, and jumped into the river in order to save her sister, but they were both carried away by the current some distance, and would no doubt have been drowned had not Air Colebrookc, a gardener, who saw the accident, promptly gone to the rescue. He succeeded in pulling both girls out of the water, who, although frightened, were not much the worse for their misadventure.
