The old chief Ropata Ngaongoriata, who was a loyal and faithful servant of the Government for many year-*, holding the office of Native Assessor, was in tpwh on Monday. As might naturally be expected he has lost the vigour which characterised -him during the war, but the old chief’s countenance brightened with animation when he was reminded of the scenes and incidents of the war in which he took a prominent part.
