A WOMAN BURNT TO DEATH.
PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.J NASEBY, August 13. A fire, attended with fatal consequences, took place shortly after 11 o’clock on Saturday night. A dwelling-house, occupied by Mrs Cockcroft and two of a family, was totally destroyed. It appears that the mother had retired to bed first, and before the others wore asleep, they were alarmed by seeing flames proceeding from the bedroom. They made an effort to rouse their mother, but were unsuccessful, the flames gaining possession of the dwelling place very quickly. The children were got out safely, and an alarm was raised as soon as possible. The Fire Brigade turned out promptly, but all exertions to save the unfortunate woman were unsuccessful. Later. The name of the woman burnt at Nasob3 r was Mrs Lindsay, generally known as Cockroft. Her body was found in bed fearfully burnt and disfigured. A Verdict of accidental death was returned at the inquest.
