FIRE AT AUCKLAND.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This day. A fire broke out at Hesketh and Aitken’s Produce Store, Durham Street, at 1 o’clock this morning, but it was got under by the fire brigade. The Stock on the top storey consisted of flax, hay, grass seed, cases, hogsheads, etc. The insurances on the building are £4OO in South British, on stock £l5O in South British Insurance, which covers their loss. In the basement storey F. and S. Morrin had £2OOO worth of casks and cases of ironmongery stored. The insurances are £ISOO in the New Zealand Insurance Company. The stock is partly damaged by water, but owing to the darkness .to what extent is not known. _ As the fire originated in the flax section, it is supposed that it had heated. Later Losses by fire at Hesketh and Aitken’s store, Durham street, are wholly covered by insurance. The fire is supposed to have originated by spontaneous combustion in a bale'of flax
