PARLIAMENT.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. FRIDAY, JUNE 15. The business in the Council to-day was purely formal. HOUSE OP REPRESENTATIVES. FRIDAY, JUNE 15. In the House, The Hon. Major Atkinson said that as soon as the Reply to the Address was carried, Supply set up, and Sir G. Grey’s motion for the Land Tax disposed of, he would make a statement as to the course of Government business, and when the Financial Statement would be made. The Hon. W. Johnston said that the Public Works Statement would be made a few days after the Financial Statement. Sir George Grey intimated that he would not be forced to bring on his motion at once ; he should choose his own time. The.notice had been on the Order Paper last session for two months. NEW BILLS. The Minister of Justice gave notice of the Prisons Bill, Bankruptcy Bill, Local Courts Bill, and Tenants Fixtures Bill. QUESTIONS. In reply to questions, Ministers stated they were not prepared to amend the Education Act this session to provide for the periodical removal of School Inspections from one district to another. The rule recently drawn attention to in the case of railway employes, forbidding them giving information on official subjects to any persons, applied to the whole; Civil Service. FIRST READINGS. Bill, (Green) ; Local Option Extcnmon" (Green) ; School Committees Election Bill (Steward) ; Pacific Annexation Bill (Grey); Moral Training in Public Schools; Bill (Green) ; Workmen’s Lien Bill (Feldwick); Rights and Privileges of Members Bill (Grey) ; Affirmation in Lien of Oaths Bill (Grey) ; Constitutional Changes Bill (Grey) ; General Assembly Bill (Grey) ; Law Practitioners Bill (Grey). : The House at 3.40 p.m. adjourned to Tuesday.
