GOBBLING UP THE LAND

The Hamer a. Star says the area of the block of land acquired by Mr T. Bayly, and of which the balance of the purchase money has lately been paid over to the Maoris, is 5000 acres, the cost being about 7s 6d. per acre. It is situated inland of Taiporohenui, a good line of road passing through it and on to the Patea river. It adjoins a block of 1000 acres owned by Major Wilson, of the Waikato, for which a deed of gift is said tO have been presented to that gentleman by the natives.
