We hear that, the railway embankment at the rear of the Boiling-down Company’s establishment so sefibusly affected the - “Company’s ’building: and plant'that work will have to be discontinued in. a .few days; The back portion of the building has been lifted from the piles, and the whole structure appears to be shifting over towards the river. Boring has been commenced near the works to ascertain the nature of the bottom of the swamp, but at a -depthoof 35f f 35 feet .nothing Isubstantial -has been met with. It will be a matter of general regret if the Company’s works have to be closed thrpitgh the railway embankment, but- there seems to be! no . doubt that such will bp - the case. - The embankment; itself is hot sinking at present, but there is no saying How long it may retain its stability.; :
