SPIRITUALISM
XO'THK EDITOR _ I : 1. Sir, —In your issue of this evening is a letter on “ Spiritualism” by “ Patean,” in which he makes the very pertinent remark, when speaking of Kml arz’s cabinet trick, that “he did not expose spiritualism in any way.” The cabinet/trick is a very neat, and yet a very old trick, and, although it is greatly improved since the day of its first appearance, still it does not in any way explain the mysticism of spiritualism. I am not a spiritualist myself, but have attended in Patea a few seances, and' although none present wore believers, I saw manifestations enough to convince me that there is something mysterious in it. lam positive that the table-tilt-ing and spelling, and above all “ planchette” writing, were not done by the connivance at fraud of any there. I would like to join a Society for the purpose of investigating the matter, and I believe a “ circle,” could easily be made up. The best number for a circle is about six or seven, and if possible a few ladies ought to be among the number.— Yours &c. Radical. May 28. .
