WAVERLEY SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Waverley School Committee was held on Wednesday, April 18th. All the members were present. The Chairman’s action in leasing the school paddock was confirmed, the lease to date from April 3rd. Resolved —That the Chairman apply to the Board for three black-boards and easels, one clock, and two basket grates ; also for authority to proceed with the works agreed to by them. The following accounts were passed for payment : —F; Davis £4 Is 2d, H I Jones £1 5s Id. Messrs Catanach and Butler waited on the Committee on account of Good Templars re reading Richardson’s book in school. Resolved, “That the master be informed that it is the wish of the Committee that Richardson’s book should be used as a class book in the school and that the Chairman see the master and ascertain his opinion, and report to the next meeting.” Mr McLean was authorised to get the fence repaired around the horse paddock. ■ Resolved, “ That the Committee supply ink and foolscap paper for the school, also that shelves be put in the old porch for the use of the sewing mistress. Mr Cleary tendered his resignation as as a member of the Committee, which was accepted with regret. Mr Oleary then vacated the chair, and his place being taken by Mr Mason, it was proposed that Mr Catanach be eleced a member vice Mr Cleary. Mr J. G. Dickie being also proposed as a member, a vote was taken, resulting in the election! of Mr Dickie. It was resolved that Mr Bridge be Chairman of Committee. The meeting then adjourned.
