A smelting establishment is about to be erected at Onehunga. Another attempt will shortly be made to utilise the iron sand deposit on the West Coast near Manukau Heads. A Trades Conference of miners took place at Manchester in August last, the delegates represented a membership of 331,000 miners. The chief business was the question of wages, and the mining laws.
