Tho Hon. Mr Oliver lias forwarded to the Olago Harbour Board a report on tlio bar compiled by Mr O’CJonnor, C.IC. Ho shows lliat ibo minimum depth of water in Juno 1882 was IGA feet. The dredge started on the Ist July, 1882, and soundings made by the Public Works Department in tho middle of August give 18 feet. Ho speaks very favourably of tiic prospect of permanent improvement.
