The wife of an hotelkeeper named • Edward Manning, late of the White jHills, Sandhurst went out to visit the house of a neighbor about a mile away. .At half-past five a terrific storm came 'on. Mrs Manning was seen from the ■door of her own boose, about half a mile distant, returning home, the country being a level plain. However, she did not reach home at night-fall, and the neighbors accordingly turned out to search for her. At daylight next morning her ;bocly was found near where she had been seen on the previous night. The jwhole ofone side was a livid bine, but jneither body nor clothes were rent.
