MANAIA.
(from our correspondent.)
The sad news has reached me that Arthur Vine, the youth who had carried the Patea Mails between Hawera and Manaia since January, got fatally injured on Saturday evening by the horse slipping on a bottle, and falling on its rider. The boy seemed to be not much hurt, but on Monday he grew worse, and died before Dr Richards could arrive from Hawera. Young Vine was a general favorite about Manaia. His funeral took place on Wednesday.
