“Statement of Facts.”
The Lyttelton Times makes the following statement of facts A telegram has been received from Sir George Grey by ; a gentleman in Christchurch stating that he had been asked by his Excellency to form a Cabinet, and is prepared to submit a list of names on his arrival. An ex-member forDnnedin is mentioned as likely to be AttorneyGeneral, without a seat in the Cabinet. We are in a position, however, to state that his Excellency did not ask Sir G. Grey to form a Ministry, but merely invited him to discuss the situation. Sir George roust be under a misconception as to the nature of Sir Arthur Gordon’s communication.” Maoris and Sir George. Auckland.—The news of Sir George Grey being sent for created great excitement among the King natives. “ Kapai Grey” is heard on : all sides. .
