Emperors’ Greeting.

Berlin, 27th.—The Emperor William has sent a most cordial reply to the Czar’s congratulations on the occasion of his Majesty’s birthday.

Commercial Treaty. London, 27th. A deputation of members of British and Colonial Union waited upon the Secretary of State for the Colonies to-day, in reference to Anglo-French commercial relations. In reply to various speakers, Earl Kimberley stated that French Government declined to accord British colonies “ most favored nation treatment,” on account of the diversity of the various colonial tariffs, and the high duties levied by the colonies upon French goods. In England, Earl Kimberley added, he was unable to control the decision of the French Government.

More Dynamiting. London, 27th.—The house of Mr Mahon, a magistrate residing near Rosecommon, was destroyed by explosion of dynamite last night. The inmates however escaped uninjured. The perpetrators of the outrage have not yet been arrested.

Robbery of a Man-of-war CaptainLondon, 27th. —Intelligence has been received that Captain Bosanquet, of, H.M.S. Northumberland, at present stationed at Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, has been attacked and wounded by a maurauder near that town, and robbed of what money and valuables he possessed. The robber succeeded in escaping.

The Russian Scare in Victoria. Melbourne, 26th,—Sir B. O’Loughlen, Premier, has received a telegram from Earl Kimberley, Secretary of State for the Colonies, stating that Bryant’s information to the Melbourne Age regarding alleged Russian designs upon the colonies, is wholly incredible, and adding that Great Britain’s relations with Russia are of. a friendly character. It is stated that Bryant, the informant of the Age regarding the alleged Russian designs upon the colonies, has suddenly disappeared from Melbourne. Swim of a Notable for LifeSydney, 27th.—The Colonial Secretary, Sir John Robertson, while going on board the steamer on Saturday afternoon, slipped and fell into the water. He swam to the shore safely before assistance conld be rendered him.
