Amending the Scab Act.

At a special meeting of the Wanganui A. & P. Association, held yesterday, a discussion arose on a motion by Mr Morgan for relieving owners of infected sheep from the heavy penalties for permitting rams to run with ewes, in cases where scab was not actually discovered, but was only suspected to exist in the form of infection. Mr Peat seconded the motion in favor of exemption. Mr G. S. Robertson moved in favor of more exact definition of infection, and also of exemption from the penalty aforesaid (clause 26). Mr M’Lennan seconded. Mr Robertson’s amendment was adopted by 10 to 5.
