WAIMATE PLAINS.
(from our correspondent.) Manaia, Wednesday. Nearly half the A.C.’s have been shifted from here, and are now engaged in roadforming about two miles beyond Oeo. The school-house is fast approaching completion. It will be remembered that at the last meeting of ratepayers a resolution was carried in favor of the school being erected on the site originally given for the purpose, but which at a former meeting was considered unsuitable. The Board evidently did not take much notice of what was done at last meeting, and for my own part I think it was just as well, for there can be no doubt that the present situation if not now the most suitable for the greatest number will be so in a very short time.
The gravelling of the road leading to Norrnanby is being carried on satisfactorily, and this will be a great help to bush settlers and others ; as the road would have been next to impassable had not the Board decided on proceeding with the work before winter set in.
