Freeman R. Jackson’s Fortnightly Stock Report. Wanganui, March 22.
The sales during the past fortnight have been fairly-weil attended by buyers and others interested in stock. I have no a[teration in values to report, the bulk of the lots offered having been sold at or after the auction, at curren rates. Cattle. —At Waverley 186 head were sold—Cows and calves, £4 ss, heifers £3 7s 6d, steers £4, mixed stores £3, yearlings £2 ss. At Kakararaea 279 head were yarded—3-year-old bullocks £4 17s 6d, fat cows £4 12s 6d, cows £3 ss, 2-year-old steers £3 2s 6d, yearlings £2 ss, calves £1 10s. At the yards today 367 head were penned—Fat bull»cks £6 10s to £7 ss, cows £5 to £5 12s 6d, store cows £3 5s to £3 7s 6d, yearlings £2 to £2 2s 6d.
Sheep. —At Waverley 2272 came forward—Fat ewes 10s 3d to 11s 6d, breeding ewes 9s 3d, store wethers 8s 9d. At Kakaramea 2164 head were in the yards— Ewes 7s 6d to 9s 6d, old ewes 6s, lambs 4s fid to 5s 9d. At St. Hil-street yards 3,300 were penned—Fat wethers 12s 9d to 14s, wethers in forward condition 10s 9d, ewes 6s 6d, lambs in wool 8s 6d, lambs in low condition 3s lOd. Rams made from £1 12s 6d to £5 2s Id.
Horses. —A large number made up the entry—Unbroken draughts £9 lOsto £l6, hacks £6 to £ll, weeds and screws 30s to 60s.
Exports. —3o head cattle, 1200 sheep
