Freeman R. Jackson’s Fortnightly Stock Report. Wanganui, Mar. Btb. I have no alteration in values to report. The bidding at Hawera was fairly good for cattle, and brisk for sheep. The reserves placed upon the cattle were in excess of current rates, consequently some had to be turned out unsold. The yards to-day were full. Cattle sold well, and the demand -for sheep was very good. Unfortunately a diseased sheep was discovered in one of the pens, which necessitated the condemning of the whole lot, including those which could not possibly have been infected. The result was, that all have to be dipped and detained in “durance vile” for three months. The sheep belonging to the Hair estate made good prices, 20s and 40s each, according to age, but could not be delivered to the purchasers, owing to supposed infection.
