CANTERBURY CRAIN & PRODUCE. (From Canterbury Times.) Christchurch, 24th.
Since our last report business in the grain market has been exceedingly active, and numerous sales have been made. There is very keen competition amongst buyers, and from the rales ruling and business transpiring there is every indication that (he bulk of the crop this season will be sold in the local market, and comparatively little find its way Home on growers’ account. Many of the samples shown have a slightly pinched appearance, due to having been cut on the green side, but opinion inclines to the belief that the condition of the crop on the whole will be a satisfactory one. Wheat. —A large number of farmers having visited town during the week, an extensive business has taken place in the new season’s grain. So many sales have transpired that it is now possible to give exact quotations. Piime quality is quoted at 4s 4d to 4s 5d ; good average is selling at 4s 2d to 4s 3d. Very fine Tuscan has been placed at up to 4s 6d f.o.b.
