The Mail has over i) 0 subscribers between Whennahura and Waitotara. SCHOOL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Waverley School. Committee was held on the 26th inst. All the members were present. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Letter received from Wanganui Education Board, stating that owing to an error in fixing date, no election of School Committee will take place this month, but due notice would be given of date fixed.

Letter from Education Board, appointing T. A. Bridge pupil teacher in place of D. Strachan —subject to approval of Committee. Accounts passed for payment: H. F. Mason £1 7s, G. S. Bridge £1 Is 2d, R, & J. Muir ss, McFarlane & Swinbourn £1 7s. Estimate received from Messrs McFarlane & Swinbourn for altering porches, to make them suitable for hat and cloak rooms. Appointment of T. A. Bridge as pupil teacher confirmed. The following resolution was put and lost, “ That the Committee learns with regret that the pupil teachers are likely to be removed, and they hope the Board will appoint teachers of at least 2 or 3 years’ experience.” ... Resolved that application be sent to the Board for funds to enlarge porches, paint the school, and for a grant of £8 to improve school grounds. Resolved that the Board be requested to appoint Mrs Taylor sewing mistress at a salary of £lB. The annual report was then submitted to committee, and adopted.
