District Prize Firing.
The Patea Rifles fired this morning for the district prizes. Twenty competed, but only two stand a chance of winning any of the money offered by Government. Major Noake was on the ground. The competition is open to all Volunteers in Manawatu, Rangitikei, Wanganui, and Patea districts. Waverley and Normanby have not yet fired : their scores may alter the prize list. There are fourteen prizes, ranging from £7 to 11s. Distances were 200, 400, and 500 yards.
