There once was a member named , Who stepped into a better man’s boots,; And when he \yas told so, Replied, “ You’r too bold, so “ I’ll punish you coute que coute( s).” I picked up the above near the Harbor office ; lut am unable to read the original Greek. What does (his mean? Bothered if I know.—Yours truly, 2s a Ton. —+ —- WOODVILLE SCHOOL. Mr Marchant has again laid his school grievances before the public. The first part of his last letter is considerably beneath the style that manly men write about each other, even where a real grievance exists. The second part only goes to show that Woodyille school is no exception in its wants to many schools in the Colony. By the way he did not tell us how many youngsters attend. Probably that will come out next time. The pattern of the now being erected is also kept in the shade, as of course it should be. The third part seems to be a kind of legal opinion respectfully dedicated to Mr Coutts for his special instruction, and informs him what Education Boards are ; that such places as Woodville should have generous treatment ; that i£ Woodville children do not attend school, the Board will not get their capitation ; that rents, grants, &c., are the property of all ; that hard-drinking navvies contribute more to the causfe of Education than sober papas ; and that under these conditions it is impossible to draw a hard and fast line, and if possible would be unjust—lie does not say to whom.' Surely Mr Coutts will now understand the Act. Molecule. SeveraHeiters held over.
