LONDON’MARKETS. Sept. 16th. Consols are unchanged at 99. New Zealand securities remain firm. Bank rate remains at 4 per cent. Colonial breadstuffs without quotable change. New Zealand wheat, ex store, 565. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 41s. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,830,000 quarters. Australian Tallow—Best beef advanced Is to. 39s 6d ; best mutton'ls 6d to 42s per cwt. An active demand continues for most descriptions of hides. Best sides Australian leather Ilf. At wool sale to-day 11,5U0 bales were offered—fair demand was experienced. Accounts to hand from Kentish hop grounds give unfavourable reports of the state of the crop, which has been partially damaged by recent excessive rain.
EXTENSION OF TREATIES.
London, 16th. It has been agreed between the French and English Governments that the present commercial treaties shall be prolonged for a further period of three months, from November next, when they would otherwise terminate. • In the meantime negotiations will be carried on between two Powers with a view to bring about a permanent future understanding in regard to their future relations.
WATER FAMINE.
Paris, 1 Gih. Telegrams from Tunis state that the necessary repairs to the city aqueduct have been completed, and the water famine is now ended.
