SALE OF SECTIONS ON DEFERRED PAYMENT.

Hawera, Wednesday. The sale of deferred payment sections in the Munaia district of the Waimato Plains was held to-day (Wednesday) at Hawera. The Land Commissioner acted as auctioneer. Thirty sections had been offered to selectors on deferred payment. Four sections had only one applicant each, and were allotted without opposition as follows . UNCONTESTED, Section 5, block I, James Crawford, farmer, Waitotara. Section G, block 1, James Wilson platelayer, Waverley. Section, 6, block 5, J. W. Barnes, laborer, Blcnhicm, Section 14, block G, John Bentley, settler, Wellington / Section 1, block 5, no application. CONTESTED SECTIONS. For 25 sections there were 105 applicants, and the allotment had to bo decided by auction between selectors only. Six sections fetched over £lO each, the top bid being £l4 ss. Nine sections were keenly competed for, and went at over £8 per acre; and a few fetched £5, evidently by private agreement. The results of Wednesday’s sale were as follow ;

CASH SECTIONS. Six thousand acres of rural land will he offered in sections to-day, at Hawera, and the township sections on the Plains and at Opnnaki will be offered on Friday. The attendance will be large, and prices promise to range higher than at the sale of previous blocks. VILLAGE SETTLEMENTS. Next Monday a number of sections of this class will bo offered for cash, at a - reserve figure ; and if a cash selector gets a section without competition, he will pay only the reserve price and take possession. Those cash sections which arc competed for will be put up to auction between the selectors only. A number of village sections will be offered next Monday on deferred payment.
