BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL , Friday Evening. The sale oi' the Plains to be bold in th e middle of this month does not seem to be attracting that amount of attention which one would expect. This will bo the last opportunity of getting first-class land on the Plains, as beyond Oeo right on to Parihaka the land is much inferior. The Parihaka block will be cut up into large farms from 100 to 300 acres. There arc now three or four survey parties hard at work upon it. There is a bit of a rage at present amongst our boldfaces to get better bar accommodation. Mr Owen, of the Egmotit, and Mr Cook, of the Empire, arc both altering bars in order I believe to prepare for fair Hebcs to preside in dispensing drinks. Shearing operations arc in full swing, the fleeces in most cases being unusually Heavy. I be/ieve very satisfactory prices arc being given for clips delivered at Patea, and that in most instances growers will sell io preference to shipping at their own risk.
