WANGANUI NOMINATIONS.

Wanganui, as a racing centre, ranks second only to Auckland in the North Island, and there are but two clubs down South which offer better prizes. When the £IOOO race was put before the public last year, the jealousy of other districts was excited, and the downfall of the Club was predicted by many ; but although not giving a £IOOO race this year, the entries arc on the whole more numerous than heretofore. These results must be gratifying to the excellent secretary, Mr F. R. Jackson, to whose untiring efforts much of the success of the Wanganui Jockey Club is due, being ably seconded by a largo number of sterling sportsmen in the district. The horses are mostly high class, and should the handicappers prove successful in adjusting the weights, some fine fields and good racing may be looked for at the March meeting. We append a list of the nominations, but it is probable more will have to be recorded. WANGANUI CUP HANDICAP. G. Frazer’s Betrayer, by Traducer J. Smith’s Maid of Honour, 4yrs M, Edgar’s Ariel Hou W.
