PARTY OF COLONISTS.
There are about 400 passengers for Tauranga per Lady Jocelyn, and they are leaving England confident in the expectation of improving their position in a very short time in Now Zealand. On September 23rd a party of about eighty ladies and gentlemen visited the ship to inspect the arrangements made for the comfort of the passengers, and were afterwards entertained at a luncheon at which Mr Geo. Yesey Stewart himself presided, and Sir Julius Vogel occupied the vice-chair. In the course of his speech Sir Julius Vogel referred to the wave of depression passing over the colony, and described it as merely temporary in its influence.
