LAND COURT AND PATETERE.

The proclamation issued re the Patctere land appoints a sitting of the Land Court at Cambridge for January 25th, at 'which one block of 249,000 acres will be abjudicated on. The Court will also deal with lands at Hokianga, Whangarei, Thames, Taupo, Bay of Plenty, Tologa Bay, Otakl, Wanganui, and Patea. The government had scheduled blocks of about a million acres in area, with regard to which they will proceed under the Native Land Act, 1877, in order to set aside laud equivalent to the Government advances from the date of the Court. The remainder of the lands will be open to public competition. An Auckland telegram says the chiefs Hanaura Ngatimaniapoto and To Ngakau wore present during the expulsion of the ploughmen from Tole’s land at Ngamoko, but did not interfere. The natives now threaten depredations on McLean’s laud.
