WAVERLEY.

BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL. Wednesday Evening. Kailway Sheds. —Messrs Swinbourne and Macfarlane have commenced preparing the timber for the erection of the traffic sheds near the Waverley railway station. Fire —About 10o'clock yesterday morning a fire broke out in the flue of the stove in Mr A. Aiken’s house. The wind was blowing against the front of the house, and this enabled the inmates to remove most of the furniture from the front rooms. The fire had got so good a hold of the building before discovery, that it was impossible to extinguish it. Unfortunately Mr Aiken was away from home mustering cattle, and knew nothing of the loss till he returned. Ho did not know that his house was gone until he reached his own gate. As the house was uninsured, his loss is serious, being estimated at nearly £4OO.
