WAVERLEY.

BRANCH OFFICE OF THE HAIL, Friday Evening. The fortnightly meeting of the 1.0.G-.T Lodge was held in the old Town Hall last night. There was a fair attendance, and things passed oil; pleasantly. The only business of consequence was the election of officers for the ensuing year, lam happy to saj r the meeting broke up mo'e in keeping with a cause which advocates decency and order than lias been customary lately. Railway. —The Waverlcy-Wnitotara section of the railway line is making rapid strides towards completion. ' The rails are laid as far as Messrs Morton and Lnpton’s paddock, and the ballast-engine is daily employed at t Ids part of the line. The railway authorities hope to be able to bring a special train as far as Messrs Morton and Lupton’s paddock on the day of the Waveriey-Waitotara races. AN Accioknt of rather a serious nature occurred here this morning to a horse-brea-ker named Butler. He was riding a young horse which he was breaking in, and on turning BaHam's Hotel the horse made a buck-jump and fell, Butler falling partly under the animal. The poor fellow was picked up insensible, and carried home on a shutter, where he now lies in a precarious condition. It is feared he is severely injured internally. It is in such cases that Wavcrley feels the hardship of being without a doctor. Mr F. R. Jackson’s stock sale takes place to-morrow, immediately after which the privileges of the Waveriey-Waitotara Racing Club’s spring meeting will be sold.
