WAITOTARA.

[f UO 31 OUR COKEESPOXDENT.J Friday Evening. During the past few days the township has been very full of natives, partly on account of a tangi over Mane (sister of Piremoma) who died at Patea last week, and partly through land agents who have been up the river looking after native lands It is said that Piremonr.’s sister died of grief at the death of her brother. At tho the tangi over that chief the sorrow was so acute that his wife and sister cut themselves with sharp shells, until they were scored from head to foot with long deep scratches. I find that I was misinformed with regard to the sum paid to natives last week, The total amount duo was some £3,000. but the amount paid at that time was about £1,200. A large concourse of natives are ex. pected next week, when the Land Court will sit here. The contractor for removing the school began operations on Monday. lie Las now got the building on wheels, 3vith a capstan rigged inside with which to draw it along by means of tackling anchored ahead. So far it has been moved oiily a few feet to bring it into a line with the direction in which it is to go.

(By Telegravji .) Friday Night

The schoolroom was moved to-day some fifty yards into the next field. The building will bo taken in an almost straight lino three hundred yards to the new site.
