WAVERLEY.
[FRO 31 OUR CORRESPONDENT.] BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL, Wednesday Evening. Town Board. —The usual monthly meeting of the Board was held on Monday evening, the members present being Messrs Swinburne (chairman), Read and Taylor. There were a few small accounts passed, and the meeting was over. It is to be hoped the members have not begun to show apathy in the discharge of their duties, or that they will allow any of their resolutions to become a dead-letter for fear of giving offence, or because of tbe personal trouble or expense which the carrying out may entail. The edges abutting on the foot-paths have not been all trimmed as yet, and that looks like an oversight. The Late Accident. —A mistake was made in the name of the medical man who came from Wanganui to attend Mr Hunter’s son. It ought to have been Dr Warren instead of Dr Donaldson. From latest accounts, the young patient is progressing as favourably as could be expected. Mi: Jackson’s Monthly Sale takes place to-morrow, and there are a large number of entries. Should the weather be fine wc may expect a good attendance and fair bidding, as tbe weather always affects a sale. Of late the weather Las not been favourable for the spring grass, and a week or two of mild weather would be a great help to many.
