Wellington, Friday Night, Tire Governor has issued a proclamation as follows; —ln accordance with prison regulations, no Jew is to bo compelled to work on his sabbath (Saturday) or on any other of the following sacred days ; new year festival day, Atonement day, Tabernacles, Passover, Pentecost. HOSPITAL SCANDAL. Wellington, Friday Night. Startling allegations arc made against the Wellington hospital officials. The matron is charged with drunkenness, and the committee of inquiry is still sitting. POLITICAL NOTES. Wellington, Friday Night. The Printing and Reports Debate Committee, on the question of reducing the cost of publishing Hansard, have reported that there was nothing to report upon. Sir G. Grey obtained leave to introduce a bill making better provision for the admission of law practitioners in New Zealand. The bill throws the profession open to all who possess good character and a little classical education; but the bill will not be considered this session, as there arc 150 more ahead of it. Government objected to close Wellington cemeteries until the Corporation provides other sites. Members of the New Zealand legislature and the Commission for the International Exhibition will have free passes o Melbourne, and all through Victoria. CHARGE OP MURDER. Dunedin, Friday. A fresh information is laid against Lee Guy and Ah Lee for the Kyeburn murder. Mr Weldon prosecutes and Mr Rowlatt defends. GOLD RUSH. Wellington, Friday. The Okarito rush is a gigantic failure. 150 men on the field cannot get away, and have no provisions. There is great suffering.
