Sale of the Plains.
The Waimate Plains are to be offered for settlement during the next three months. The Ministry have directed the first portion of the land to be advertised immediately. We are informed that a new block of land not previously surveyed has been prepared for occupation, the plans being just finished. The block lies about three miles north-west by north from Norman by, towards the edge of the bush, and is chiefly open land. A new township is mapped on the block, to be called Okaiawa, and the new road from Normanbyto Opunaki will passthrough the township. Okaiawa will be about four miles from Normanby. The work of re-surveying the Plains and replacing the pegs which had been mostly removed is now completed; and the new survey of the Okaiawa block is also finished. Nothing remains but to open the land for occupation by public advertisement.
