DAMAGING CRICKET GROUND.
Sir, —For some days past I have noticed several head of cattle on the Cricket and Athletic Sports ground. I visited the ground yesterday, and I can say, without fear of contradiction, that far more damage has been done to the pitch by these animals within a few days than by the football players during the football season. Could you inform me who has given the owner of these cattle permission to graze there ? I have repeatedly seen persons who have ridden into the ground ordered out, on account of the damage they migli do to the ground. I would not have written this letter had I not read, a short time back, letters written with reference to damage done to the cricket pitch by footballers. As a football player, I protest against cattle being allowed on the ground. —Yours, &c., Footballer. Patea, 9th.
