W AITOTARA.
[f uo m on con nns ro nd e nt.]
Ox the 30th nit. our district constable received his discharge, and as yet no one has been sent to take his pl'ace. This is not as it should be. There are a considerable number of natives about wailing for the Land Court at Pa tea. If any disturbance arose a constable would have to be sent for to Patea, a distance of eighteen miles. There is something about this affair altogether which does not commend itself.
Platelayers were at work till after dark on Sunday last running material over the railway bridge on trollies, in order not to interfere with the bridge carpenters during the week. Four trains ran during the day from Kai Iwi with rails, sleepers, points, &c., the last train reaching the bridge at dusk. Had the weather been favorable during the week, it was expected that the engine would be able to rnn up to the Waitotara station to-day; as it is, it will most likely do so to-morrow.
