HAWERA.
[f rom ou n coukesposb n x t.]
There is to be a meeting of those interested in forming a Linking Club to-morrow, in order to while away the long winter evenings. After the success of the last concert the Committee of the Institute intend to follow up the dose. 1 trust it will be as agreeable as the last one. X was rat/ier. struck by a remark Mr Allan made while giving his evidence today, that Normanbyites seemed not to be law-abiding people. Now, if anybody was in court to-day, they would have seen that this statement was not correct. There wore five police cases and they all came from Normanby, showing very clearly that the inhabitants of that thriving township seem very fond of law, and that they think it an honour to get an invitation to Captain Wray’s levee. .Really, Mr Allan should be more careful in making these damaging remarks against a place whose only fault is that its inhabitants are too much enamoured of law.
