WAITOTARA.
[F B 0 31 0 U B CO B BBS PO ND E NT,] The Contbactobb bare finished the formation between the railway bridge and the station. An engine and six or seven trucks have been running down and using material to put a foot deep of clay over the embankment of black sand between the cutting and the river. The railway buildings are rapidly approaching completion, and work is being pushed vigorously- forward at the railway bridge. ■ :• r Stobbkeepebs here seem asleep about having a road formed to Momahaki Block. 1 A number of settlers thereon get their supplies from Waverley, eight
miles distant, whereas they would come to Waitotara, four miles, if the road were formed. One enterprising store keeper at Waverley runs a spring-trap to within an easy distance of these settlers ; and of course they get letters, goods, etc., by Waverley. The Momahaka Settlers are complaining of the delay in opening the road from a newly-settled block to the Waitotara township, as now they have to use the road lately made by the Wairoa Highway Board and through the late Mr Williamson’s property, which doubles the distance almost. The Police Buildings here arc still unoccupied, the why and the wherefore being a mystery.
