DROVERS’ DROWNED. Wellington, Wednesday. Two drovers in the employ of Edward Riddiford were drowned on Monday in the Wairarapa Lake while attempting to cross. NEW TELEGRAPH BILL. Wellington, Wednesda3 T . It is the intention of Government to introduce during the coming Parliamentary session, a Bill amending the Telcgrajahs Act, by providing increased facilities for the transmission of Press telegrams in the event of temporary interruption. '; OPENING OF PARLIAMENT. Wellington, Wednesday. Nothing is yet settled in reference to the mover and seconder of the Address in reply to the. Governor’s speech. The usual practice is for the newest members to be selected, but. in this case no new members have been elected during the recess, unless Sir William Fox can be called one. RAILWAY SERVANTS’ HOURS. Wellington, Wednesday. A statement has been made that the Minister of Public Works has directed the hours of labor of- railway hands to be increased from eight to nine hours. No such instruction has. emanated from the Minister, but during the time of exceptional pressure from grain and goods traffic lately, the men were called on by traffic managers, this being only temporary. SPORTSMAN LOST. Dunedin, Wednesday. ..Robert McDonald,-printer, went out rabbit shooting on' Monday morning, and has not since been heard of. It is feared he has been killed by a gun accident.
